Haines Assisted Living On Track For Fall Opening - July 13, 2009
Haines Assisted Living is on track for a Fall opening at Union and Third in Haines. Contractor Dawson Construction is completing interior finish work on the residence. Delivery and installation of flooring, appliances and finished cabinetry will occur through August, as will the remaining site, drainage and exterior building work. Read Full Press Release (PDF)


On May 25th, 2007 the Haines Assisted Living board hosted an informational public meeting in Haines.

Eileen Mello of the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation and Kathy Berzanski of the Denali Commission listened to supporting presentations of representatives from local organizations who serve elders in Haines. Interested citizens also testified for the project.

Participants watched a video sent by U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski, a personal endorsement of our project.

On May 30th, (L. to R.) Haines Assisted Living founder Lucy Harrell, U. S. Senator Lisa Murkowski, Alaska Representative Bill Thomas, Hospice of Haines President Nancy Schnabel and SEARHC Vice President Mark Gorman gather at the site for the proposed Haines Assisted Living Facility.


Also present were Haines Mayor Fred Shields, Haines Borough Manager Robert Venables and the Boards of Haines Assisted Living and Hospice of Haines. The gathering demonstrated to Senator Murkowski collaboration and our commitment to build a facility that meets the unique needs of our community.
